Johan Jansén-Storbacka takes over as head of BRAINBiocatalysts' enzyme product business

On September 1, Johan Jansén-Storbacka from Sweden took over as head of the Enzyme Products division in the BRAINBiocatalysts segment.

Since September 1, 2025, Johan Jansén-Storbacka has been Executive Vice President at BRAIN Biotech AG, heading up the enzyme products business in the BRAINBiocatalysts segment. In this role, he has taken charge of a team of around 140 employees in the UK, Europe, and the US. His predecessor, Rod Sears Black, retired on January 1, 2024, and CEO Adriaan Moelker had been managing the division on an interim basis in the meantime.

The BRAINBiocatalysts business unit is responsible for the development, production, and distribution of specialty enzymes, microorganisms, and ingredients. Jansén-Storbacka's responsibilities include further developing the company's enzyme products and fermentation strategy, strengthening the integration between research and production, and helping to shape the future growth of the BRAINBiocatalysts business unit.

In addition to an M.Sc. in Engineering and Management and an MBA, Jansén-Storbacka brings more than two decades of experience in biotechnology to the table and has gained knowledge of enzyme applications in various industries throughout his career.

BRAIN Biotech focuses on the development and production of innovative enzymes for the food and life science industries and acts as a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) for these industries.
